BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY APRIL 12 1962 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Attorney Cecere presiding - the following business. was had to wit : City Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes ha of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by the City Engineer, Mr. Sherick. The Board authorized City Controller Tiffany to enter into a contract with the Wayne County Insurance Service for an Umbrella Liability policy. The Board approved the request of the Noon Optimist Club to have an Easter Bunny parade using a fire truck and a police vehicle Saturday April 21 , 1962 , on Main Street from 4th Street to Glen Miller Park. City Controller Tiffany reported that the new trash containers would be placed on the streets this week, and the old ones returned to Indiana Prison Industries for repairs. The Board approved a request of the Wayne County ABC to use the City Court Room each Friday at 2 p.m. for meetings , from May 4, 1962 until approx. September 1 , 1962 as their meeting room in the County Court House is being used by the Tax Review Board. A petition for a street light by residents of the 100 block on S.W. 14th Street was referred to the Richmond Power and Light for Study and recommendation. The Board concurred with a proposal by the Frisch 's Big Boy Drive- In to widen the driveway at their new location on National Road West. The Board approved a request by Dog Warden Francis Daniels for a week vacation starting Monday April 16, 1962. A member of the police Dept. will assume his duties. A. petition to remove "NO PARKING" signs from the east side of North 16th Street from Main to North A was refferred to the Traffic Div. The Board referred two locations to check complaints of using the areas as junk yards. (1 ) Northwest 17th in Hosapple Addition (2 ) Northwest 2nd - north of E St. These locations were referred to the Building Inspector. Bert Glaser appeared before the Board in regard to the construction of a storm sewer through his property on the north side of west Main Street near 20th Street to eliminate an open ditch. The matter was taken under advisement for study. (2 cuts - 20 ft . each) The Board. approved curb cuts/at 1830 W. Main St . for Crabtree-Maule. The Board approved a 15 ft. curb cut at 132 South 8th St: �-- Capt. Stout reported that Street name signs were being made for Berry Field Addition and that "STOP" signs had been installed in that area. The Board approved a request by Capt. Stout to restrict parking on the west side of south 6th St. approx 75 ft. south of South E Street. The Board approved and signed plans for Locust Lane - 2nd Addition. Councilman Yount discussed the preserving of the historical marker at the old No. 4 Fire House. Perhaps locating it on the traffic Isle.
