BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
APRIL 5. 1962
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with
City Controller Tiffany presiding - Board president Andrew C. Cecere, City
Attorney was absent - The following business was had to wit:
City Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous
meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Engineer Sherick.
Mrs. Carr, 1007 North 15th Street appeared before the Board to report
the bad condition of North 15th Street north of "J", also the first alley
east of 15th Street, referred to the Street Department,
A petition was submitted to the Board by residents and property owners
residing on Hillcrest Avenue, to improve the ditch and surface of Hill-
crest Avenue, the matter referred to the Street Department.
A petition was submitted by residents and property owners of the Hosapple
Addition for the construction of sanitary sewers, referred to the City
Engineering Department for an estimate and recommendation.
The Board adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 2-1962 to vacate an alley
at the rear of the Automatic Dispensers on South 9th Street. The City re-
served the right of ingress and egress to maintain a sewer in the area.
The Resolution is as follows:
DECLARATORY RESOLUTION TO VACATE PART OF AN ALLEY
DECLARATORY RESOLUTION NO. 2- 1962
RESOLVED, by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,
Indiana, that it is desired and deemed necessary to vacate that part of a cer-
tain Twelve (12) foot alley in the Park View Addition to the City of Richmond,
Indiana lying west of Lot Number Nineteen (19) in said Park View Addition
and east of Lots Numbered Five (5) , Six (6) , Seven (7) , and part of Lot Eight
(8) , all in said Park View Addition to the City of Richmond, Indiana, and more
particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of Lot Number Nineteen (19)
in the Park View Addition to the City of Richmond, Indiana,
and in the south line of Parry Street in said City of Richmond,
Indiana; running thence south along the west line of said Lot
Number Nineteen (19) in said Park View Addition and the east
line of said Twelve '(12) foot alley, one hundred twenty and
33/100 (120.33) feet, more or less, to the southwest corner of
said Lot Number Nineteen (19) in said Park View Addition;
thence west Twelve (12)feet to the west side of said Twelve
(12)'foot alley, and the east line of Lot Number Eight (8) in
said Park View Addition; thence north along the west side of
_said±. w'elve (12) foot alley, and along the east lines of Lots
numbered Eight (8),Seven (7) , Six (6) , and Five (5) in said
Park View Addition, one hundred twenty and 33/100 (120.33)
feet, more or less, to the northeast corner of said Lot Number
Five (5) in said Park View Addition and the south line of
Parry Street; thence east along the south line of Parry Street
Twelve (12) feet, more or less, to the place of beginning.
RESERVING to the 6ity of Richmond, Indiana, the right of ingress and egress
for the purpose on mahntaining a sanitary sewer presently located in the pare
of said alley sovacated.
The property in said City of Richmond, Wayne County, Indiana which may be
injuriously or beneficially affected by said proposed vacation is known and
described as the part of the alley herein proposed to be vacated, and the lots
abutting on both sides thereof, namely Lots numbered Five (5) , Six (6) , Seven
(7) , and Eight (8) in the Park View Addition to the City of Richmond, Indiana,
which are now owned by Automatic Dispensors, Ind. , and Lot Number Nineteen
(19) in the Park View Addition to the City of Richmond, Indiana which is now
owned by Rev. Julius C. Ramey and Pearl R. Ramey, husband and wife.

The Board approved the purchase of a short block engine b y the fire depart-
ment for emergency purposes as the block can be used in several fire trucks.
The Board approved the replacement of the old boiler at number five(5) hose
house, for an estimate of $998.40.
The Board approved a recommendation by Captain Stout to install a stop sign
at Park Place and South 10th Street, to stop traffic west bound for 10th St.
Also, to restrict parking on the North side of Park Place from South 10th
east to Service Station Drive Way, ( approx. 2 parking spaces)

Wm R. Emslie, 602 Southwest "A" Street, appeared before the Board, and
submitted a complaint, in regard to the bad condition of the curbs in front
of his residence, the matter referred to Street Commissioner M. Lawrence.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
