HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-22-1962 • Page 196 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY FEBRUARY 22, 1962 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Attorney Cecere presiding - All members present - The following business was had to wit: City Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. illThe Board declared a 1948 GMC truck used by the Street Department as junk, that it may be disposed of, being not advisable to repair it - Identification number A-228197410. . FoliceChiet&onyers reported that 73 pedestrian warning tickets had been issued between February 12-17 at the following locations: On Main St. - 6=2, 7=10, 8=26, 9=19. South-7th & "A" =1, South 8th & "A"=1. Jay Walking in between inter- sections: On Main St. - 500 Blk =1, 600 Blk.7.-3, 700 Blk=1, 800 Blk.=2 and 900 Blk.=7. Chief Conyers said fines will be assessed violators starting March 5, 1962. The Board approved a request from the Earlham Freshman Class to use Clear Creek Park to hold a May Day Festival May 4,& 5, 1962. Fire Chief Klotz reported that number four hose house would move to the new» building at South 8th & "L" Street Friday,February 23, 1962, and a date for public inspection would be announced soon. City Engineer Sherick and Fire Chief Klotz presented a drawing showing 11 fire hydrants, located West of US #27 North and on Catalpa Drive, Locust Drive and Mendleson Drive. City Engineer Sherick moved that the hydrants be installed, seconded by City Attorney. The Clerk was instructed to notify the Richmond, Water Works Corporation. City Controller Tiffany moved that the bids for three (3) new automobiles, station wagon and tvo(2) 2 doors be awarded to Dea Meadows Ford on their Low III bid on each of the three cars, (1) Wagon Trade-in car #106 - $1845.00 (2) Gal. 2Dr. " " " 114 - 1660.00 (3) rr " rr rr " 101 - 1325.00 Total $4830.00 The board discussed the annexation of property on the North side of US #40 East from the Elks Country Club Road to the Ohio State Line. City Engineer Sherick reported that he is preparing a list of property owners of which several have expressed a desire to come into the City. Sewer and water facilities for the area were also discussed. A petitionfor street lights on Northwest "M" west of Northwest 5th Street, and Southwest "I" Street west of the Abington Pike were referred to the Richmond Power and Light for study and recommendstion. The Board approved a request by Fire Chief Klotz for fire trucks to run the wrong way on one way streets, when it is advantageous in getting to the fire sooner.
