HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-15-1962 Page 195 - BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY FEBRUARY 15, 1962 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Tiffany Presiding: City Attorney - President absent - The follow- ing business was had to-wit: City Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes 'of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The Board Approved a request by Fire Chief Klotz to send three firemen to the fire school in Memphis, Tenn. February 27 through March 2, 1962. The Board amended the effective date for the resignation of police mechanic Lewis Danels from March 1, to March 5, 1962. III The Board appointed Terrel LaFuze a regular policeman on the recommendation of police chief Conyers, having served the one year probationary period, effective February 15, 1962. The Board approved a request by Chi®f Conyers to send Captain Stout and Patrolman Rowland to the Seminar on Accident Investigation at Indiana University, February 19 through February 23, 1962. Chief Conyers reported that 35 warning tickets have been given to pedestrians for jay walking and not crossing the intersections on the walk sign. Police Chief Conyers reported that Captain Stout and he would appear on channel 13 in Indianapolis February 26, 1962 to participate in a safety program. City Controller Tiffany reported that the Flatley Road has been repaired and is now in good condition. . A complaint by Russell Commons, 1600 Cart Road,that his fence was damaged by the contractor constructing the sewer in Berry Field, was referred to City Engineer Sherick to investigate. Captain Stout was instructed to install a street sign at Catapa Crive and US #27. Street Commissioner Lawrence was instructed to install a City Limits sign on US #27 South. Rev. Baxter, Pentacostal Church on South 8th Street, South of "L" Street, appeared before the Board concerning a parking area South of the new fire station for mem- bers of the Church, Rev.
