HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-28-1961 Page 187 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY December 28, 1961 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall, with City Attorney Cecere presiding; all members were present. The following business was had,to-wit: City Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to hear 111 persons concerned with Improvement Resolution No. 1044-1961 Assessment Roll. The proofs were accepted and ordered filed. There being no remonstrators present, City Controller Tiffany moved that the roll be confirmed, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. Weights & Measures Inspector Ralph Snavely reported that he was going to attend the Weights & Measures School in co-operation with the National Bureau of Standards, at Indianapolis on January 10, 11, and 12th. Police Chief Orville Conyers submitted specifications for a 1962 automobile to be used by the Police Department. The Clerk was instructed to advertise for sealed bids to be opened by the Board January 11, 1962. City Engineer Sherick submitted specifications for a 1962 automobile to be used by the Engineering Department. The Clerk was instructed to advertise for sealed bids, to be opened by the Board on January 11, 1962. The Board received a letter to acknowledge the receipt of the Certified copy of Ordinance No. 1889-1961 (Fluoridation) and that it has been transmitted to the officers of the Richmond Water Works Corporation, by John W. Behee, acting manager of the local branch of the Water Works Corporation. The Board approved a recommendation by Captain Stout, Traffic Department, to restrict parking by two (2) spaces at the southeast corner of North 6th & Washington Avenue. Police Chief Conyers reported that all policemen would wear silver identification bars above their badges. The bars will have the first initial and last name. The Board instructed City Controller Tiffany to order more trash containers of the wire basket type for use in the business area. There being no further business , the meeting adjourned.
