HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-24-1961 Page 181 ' BOARD IOF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY November 24, 1961 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall, with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present; the following business was had to-wit: City Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Engineer Sherick, unanimous voice vote. Representatives of the Boys' Club of Richmond, Inc. appeared before the Board of Works, to lease or buy a part of the old Beallview Park property at South 8th & "L" Street, as a site for a new $50,000.00 Boys' Club building. James Rendel, executive director of the club and club board members G. L. DeBolt, Ray Smith and Robert Rosa , were present. The matter was referred to City Attorney Cecere for study. Ralph Billheimer, 1410 South 16th Street, appeared before the Board and submitted a complaint concerning a culvert constructed on South 16th Street, causing water to run on to his property. The Board instructed the Engineering Department to investigate the complaint. Robert Crawley, 22 years old, 407 North 17th Street, was named by the Board of Public Works and Safety to the Richmond Fire Department to serve one year as a probationary fireman, effective November 24, 1961, on the recommendation of Fire Chief Klotz.
