HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-16-1961 Page 180 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY November 16, 1961 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall, with City Attorney Cecere presiding. All members were present; the following business was had to-wit; City Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The Board granted Albert P. Runkle, used car dealer, an extension of time to vacate and discontinue business at 3950 East Main Street, to find another location as the present location is not zoned for business. Building Commissioner Sligar notified Mr. Runkle of the Zoning Code and set the date of November 27, 1961, to discontinue business at this address. The Board referred two petitions for Street lights to the Richmond Power and Light for recommendation and estimate (1) South 14th & "J" (1) - South 15th & "J" (1) - North side 36th & Main Street. The Board on the recommendation of Fire Chief Klotz accepted the resignation of Fireman Robert E. McDaniel, effective November 6, 1961. City Engineer Sherick moved to engage the Life Insurance of North America to write the Group Insurance for City Employees, seconded by City Controller Tiffany. The Board instructed City Engineer Sherick to confer with the Street Commissioner concerning the condition of South "H" Street between South 14th and 15th Streets. The Board instructed instructed City Engineer Sherick to proceed with his investi- gation of property owners along the Test Road,so that it can be dis-annexed. The Board gave John C. Buroker 30 days to remove the condemned Cbuilding from his property at 415 Gardner Street. (December 16, 1961) . The Board granted permission to Joe Barker to have the building of Katz drive-in on 10th Street moved to Southwest 1st Street. The Board granted permission to the Christmas Parade Committee of the Retail Merchants to use the new fire department pumper in the annual parade November 24, 1961.
