BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
October 5, 1961
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall, with
City Controller Tiffany presiding, City Attorney Cecere was absent. The
following business was had to wit:
IIICity Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Engineer Sherick.
City Controller Tiffany reported that seat belts would be installed on a
few City owned cars this week.
The Board of Works received notice that the new "Walk-Wait" signs for
5th-6th-7th-lOth-& Main Streets were being shipped from the State Highway
Department on October 11, 1961.
A petition to condemn property at 415 Gardner Street, as being unfit for
human habitation, was filed by 24 residents of that vicinity. The Board
referred the petition to the Commissioner of buildings and the Fire Depart-
ment Inspector.
City Controller Tiffany reported that he has purchased wire basket trash
containers for Main Street, and they were being shipped immediately.
The Board ordered the Clerk to readvertise for salt for the Street Depart-
ment, as there were no bidders.
City Controller Tiffany reported signs were being made to warn people of
' No Parking" for the time that the Street sweeping trucks areein operation.
Ivan Riegel, custodian of the I.O.O.F. building, appreared before the Board
III concerning the disposal of trash. Mr. Riegel was referred to the Sanitary
District.
Captain Stout, traffic division, reported that the flasher for West 18th
& Main Street was being shipped, and would be installed next week.
The Board approved a request from the Richmond Hi-Y Club to have the annual
Homecoming Parade on October 19, 1961. The parade will proceed from the
Glen Miller Park to the High School football field.
The Board referred a petition to repair Curbs and gutters in the 400 block
of Northwest "J" Street, to the Street Department.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned;
