HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-13-1961 Page 161 • BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY • JULY 13, 1961 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall, with City Controller Tiffany presiding: City Attorney Cecere absent - The following business was had to wit: City Controller Tiffany moved that the reading of the minutes of the pre- vious meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The Board approved a request by Rev. C. R. Woodard, Full Gospel Services to erect a tent at North 10th & J Street for revival services from July 20th to July 30th 1961, subject to building code and fire Dept. regulations. The Board approved the construction of a swimming pool at 120 Southwest "I" Street, by contractor Ralph Wiwi, subject to pool regulations. The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to open sealed bids for two (2) dump trucks, for the use of the Street Depart- ment. The Board approved the proofs of publication and ordered them filed. The following .bids were opened:. • Kurdy's Chevrolet Chev. Truck $6853.4.6 - 1962 Model C6103 (1) Vivian Buick Int'l 7100.00 - 1961 " B164 (2) " " " - 8400.00 - 1961 " B174 (3) " " " 8900.00 - 1961 " B184 City Controller Tiffany moved that the bids be taken under advisement to study the specifications, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The Board approved a curb cut of 30' for a private drive way to an off street parking area, requested by the Metal Specialty Company, at South "L" Street. City Engineer Sherick reported that the State Board of Health has approved the Improvement Resolution No. 1043-1961, the construction of a sanitary sewer on South 11th Street from "M" to "0" Streets. The Board ordered th Street Department to repaint the cross walks and islands at West 1st Street and Richmond Avenue. Fire Chief Klotz presented letters concerning the careless handling of fire- works to be sent to the American Legion, Harry Ray Post #65 and the Illinois Fireworks Co. df Danville, Ill. Mr. Wallace Brenneman, Henley Road South, appeared before the Board to in- quire about a. sanitary sewer, water line and Street Lights for residents living in that vicinity. The Board recommended that the sanitary district be contacted concerning the sanitary sewer, and that a location was being sought for a storage tank, as a water line would need a booster for pressure in that area, and that a petition for Street Lights would be referred to the Richmond Power and Light for study and recommendation. Mrs. Dickinson - 126 South 10th Street, appeared before the Board to inquire about a retaining wall between her property and the new City owned public parking lot between South 9th & 10th Streets below South "A" Street. City Engineer Sherick said that a curb or car stops would be provided to keep cars from running into her fence.
