Present for the Committee : David Telman, Judi Lech, Katie Jacobus, Marie Enochty, Casey Mecca
Present for the Administration: Director of Finance & Operations Giovanna Venditti, Principal Keith Gauley, Principal

Call to Order & Declaration of a Quorum , Meeting Participation Statement and Recording Statement :
Chair Telman called the virtual meeting to order at 4 : 30 p . m . , declared a quorum present, and read the meeting
participation and recording statements .
Agenda Changes — None
Citizens Speak — None
PRIORITY BUSINESS
PUBLIC HEARING — SCHOOL CHOICE
It was moved by Katie Jacobus , seconded by Casey Mecca and voted unanimously via roll call vote to move
into Public Hearing.
Discussion was held on the difference between Public Hearing and Citizens Speak.
There was no public comment .
On a motion by Judi Lech , seconded by Katie Jacobus and voted unanimously via roll call vote to move out
of Public Hearing.
Discussion was held on participating in School Choice at the elementary school level . The Superintendent
recommends the Brewster Elementary Schools do not participate in school choice .
It was moved by Katie Jacobus , seconded by Judi Lech , and voted unanimously via roll call vote to not
participate in the School Choice program for the upcoming 2021 -2022 school year.
Principal ' s Reports
Principal Hughes ' written report was included in the Committee packet. Judi Lech thanked Principal Hughes for
her reports and she told Principal Hughes that she is very impressed with the fact that she involves the staff in
decision making so often . As a former teacher that means a lot that that is happening. Principal Hughes indicated
how much she values her staff.
Principal Gauley ' s written report was included in the Committee packet . Discussion was held on staffing changes
and new hires .

Superintendents Report — No Report
Mary Buchanan — Director of Student Services
Mary Buchanan introduced herself to the Committee . Ms . Buchanan reported on some updates in the preschool
program including creating a Director of Specialized Programs which will oversee the Nauset Integrated
Preschool Program and a portion of Out of District programming. Tiered Focused Monitoring, which was
previously known as Coordinated Program Review, through DESE has been completed successfully with
professional development planned for staff over the summer months . Ms . Buchanan gave an update on the
Special Education summer program, with most staff having been hired . There are a total of 4 preschool classes
in Brewster, 3 are integrated and 1 will be self- contained . Discussion was held on Tiered Focused Monitoring,
FY21 Budget Expenditure Reports
Giovanna Venditti reviewed the Brewster Elementary expenditure reports, beginning with Stony Brook
Elementary School . Ms . Venditti highlighted expenses/changes of $ 1 , 000 or more . The prior month balance was
$ 12150173 $ 13 , 604 was spent or encumbered, leaving a current balance of $ 107 ,413 . The prior month balance of
Eddy Elementary School was $ 10 , 274 . , $4 ,257 was spent or encumbered leaving a balance of $6 , 017 . Combined
available funds for both schools is $ 113 ,430 . Discussion was held on McKinney Vento funding .
Approve Gifts & Grants
It was moved by Katie Jacobus , seconded by Marie Enochty is was voted unanimously via roll call vote to
approve the Gifts & Grants as presented .
REPORTS & INFORMATION
Cape Cod Collaborative — Katie Jacobus reported there has been progress on driver availability with drivers
returning due to vaccinations ; it is anticipated that 19 students will be able to return to their District schools in
FY22 .
PTO — Casey Mecca reported the focus is now on the Fun Run, which will happen at the end of May.
School Council — No report for Stony Brook. Marie Enochty reported on Eddy School Council . Discussion was
held on MCAS testing this spring . Students will participate in MCAS for two weeks in May . Remote students
will have options to participate as well .
Policy Subcommittee — Judi Lech reported on the Staff RUP , which is now being reviewed by the NEA . It is
anticipated the NEA will respond to the Policy Subcommittee by the end of April . Work is set to begin on the
Student RUP . Discussion was held on the naming/renaming of schools and a policy around that .
Behavioral Health Task Force — No report

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved by Marie Enochty, seconded by Katie Jacobus and voted unanimously via roll call vote to
approve the Minutes of March 18 , 2021 as written .
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Casey Mecca , seconded by Judi Lech and voted unanimously via roll call vote to adiourn
at 7 ; 15PM.
