BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY
RICHMOND, INDIANA
May 4, 1961
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall,
with City Controller Wilson presiding. City Attorney Cecere absent. The
following business was had to wit:
111 The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to
hear persons interested in Improvement Resolution No. 1041-1961, " THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A SANITARY SEWER ON SOUTH "K" BETWEEN SOUTH 5th AND LIBERTY
PIKE AND ON SOUTH 4th STREET FROM "I" AND "K" STREETS". There being no
remonstrators present the Board confirmed the Resolution, and instructed the Clerk
to advertise for bids.
The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to hear
persons interested in Improvement Resolution No. 1042-1961, " THE CONSTRUCTION
OF A SANITARY SEWER SOUTH "M" TO "0" ON SOUTH 14th ,AND 15th STREETS AND ON
SOUTH "M" FROM 14th TO 16th STREETS". There being no remonstrators present
the Board confirmed the Resolution, and instructed the Clerk to advertise for
• bids.
- The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to hear
persons interested in Improvement Resolution No. 1043-1961. There being no
remonstrators present. The Board took the Resolution under advisement,
until the next meeting.
The Board received one bid to remove buildings, on the proposed new City
owned parking lot, between south 8th and 9th, and between south "A" and "B"
streets of $1784.00. City Controller Wilson moved to take the bid under
advisement, seconded by City Engineer Sherick. The bid was made by the
Cox Excavating Company, 704 South 6th street, Richmond, Indiana.
III The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Contractor Arlie M. Harbin to
comply with the agreement signed by him and recorded in the recorders office
April 2, 1955, to construct surface drainage in the Douglas Addition in the
City of Richmond, Indiana, (So. W. "H").
The Board approved a request by Police Chief Conyers to attend the Indiana
Association of Police Chiefs at Elkhart, Indiana, June 25-28.
Police Chief Conyers received notice that Officer Joseph White, would be
required to attend the Annual Field Training with the Indiana National Guard
during the period of July 28 through August 13, 1961, from Headquarters
38th Infantry Division, Indianapolis, Indiana.
The Board gave notice to the Street Commissioner to remove all the old type
trash containers from the City Streets, the Optimist Club having been duly
notified.
0 Weights and Measures Inspector E.E.Snavely, submitted his monthly report to
the Board, showing 3109 packages checked, with 2930 correct and 179 condemned.
There being no furtherbusiness the meeting adjourned.
