BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
March 30, 1961
The Board of Public Works and Safety me't in regular session in City Hall
• with City Controller Wilson presiding. City Engineer Sherick absent (Purdue)
the following business was had to wit:
The Board approved a curb cut, requested by Walter Monger, between 523 and
North "D" street, . for a drive way of 30 feet.
The Board approved a curb cut of 16 feet at 501 South 7th street, for private
drive way, requested by William Turner.
A petition was submitted to the Board for _a concrete sidewalk, curb and
gutter on both sides of South 14th street, between South "M" and South "0"
streets. The petition was referred to the City Engineer to check property
owners.
A petition to pave the alley between South "A" and South "B" streets and
between South 12th and South 13th streets, was referred to the City Engineer
to check property owners.
A petition for curbs and gutters on both sides of South 15th street from
South "M" to South "0" streets was referred to the City Engineer to check
property owners.
William Kyle and Arthur Brown, representing Richmond Eagles Lodge #666,
appeared before the Board and reported the Lodge's interest in acquiring
the Cities South 12th street lot. ( Garfield School ) For the purpose of
building a $200.,000.00, 150 X 80 ft. lodge building.
Fire Chief Klotz, said that the regulation on the handling of inflamable
liquids would be strickly enforced, and that he was sending department
inspectors to all filling stations and bulk plants to warn against handling
of gasoline. and carelessness. Ill
The Board awarded the bid for a new 1961 automobile for the use of the
Police Department to the Dea Meadows Ford Agency, on their bid of
$1667.00.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
