HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-29-1960 Page 129 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY RICHMOND, INDIANA December 29, 1960 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall, with City Controller Wilson presiding. Board members City Attorney Cecere and Acting City Engineer Ross were present. The following business was had to-wit: City Controller Wilson, moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Attorney Cecere. The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to open sealed bids for the installation of traffic signals on 8th and 9th streets, for the change-over to one way streets. City Controller Wilson, moved that the proofs be accepted and filed, seconded by Acting City Engineer Ross. The following bids were opened by the City Controller, president of the Board: The Welsbach Corporation of Indianapolis, Indiana $15,908.07 Jellison Electric Co. of Richmond, Indiana 13,975.00 James H. Drew Corporation of Indianapolis, Indiana 11,988.00 James Cox of the Indiana State Highway Department, (engineer for the eastern district) checked the specifications with the Board, which proved to be OK. City Attorney, moved to accept the low bid of the James Drew Corporation of $11,988.00 seconded by City Controller Wilson. The bidder stated in his bid that the work would start with-in ten days after receiving the bid and would be finished with-in six weeks, The Clerk was instructed to advise the James H. Drew Corporation at once, that they are the successful bidder, and to proceed with the installation. (Pro,lect No. 8095) The Board approved an overhead passageway, connecting the Second National Bank and the McCord Building, requested by J.O. Parshall, president of the Second National Bank. The construction is to be at least 14 feet above the pavement level and 40 feet or more east of the 8th street building line.
