BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
RICHMOND, INDIANA
December 15, 1960
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session with City
Controller Wilson presiding, City Attorney Cecere and Acting City Engineer
Ross attended. The following business, was had to-wit:
IIIThe Board approved a request by Billie Johnson, to have' installed a private
water line at his expense from Pongee street north approximately 512 feet
on Indianapolis Avenue.
The Board approved a request from the Doan & Johnson Funeral Home to remove
concrete between the side walk and curb at 1106 Main Street for the purpose
of planting grass in the strip.
John Miller of the Miller Dairy Company, appeared before the Board, concerning
curbs cuts as drive ways for two (2) proposed ice cream package stores, the
Board approved the following curb cuts: for the store at South 9th and "E" ,
two (2) cuts on "E" and one (1) on 9th street. For the store at North 10th
and "J" and one (1) on 10th street.
Fire Chief Klotz, reported the fire loss of 1959 as being $65,000.00, and
the fire loss so far this year as $38,000.00, Klotz attributes the saving to
the departments inspection program.
Fire Chief Klotz, submitted six (6). applications to the Board to approve one
(1) man to be appointed as regular fireman January 1, 1961. The Board took
the application under advisement. ,
Mayor Cutter, reported a serious leak somewhere above the police department, -
ill making it necessary to place buckets on the floor to catch the water. The
matter was referred to City Controller Wilson.
Captain Stout, of the police traffic department, reported that the State
Highway Department has requested that parking on Main Street -from 3rd to
12th street, be restricted from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM on both sides, December
. 15, 1960, so that the snow, can be removed.
There being no further business; the meeting adjourned. .
