BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
RICHMOND, INDIANA
November 23, 1960
The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall, with
City Controller Wilson presiding. Board members City Attorney and Acting
Engineer Ross were present. The following business was had to-wit:
City Controller Wilson, moved that the reading of the minutes of the previous
meeting be dispensed with, seconded by City Attorney Cecere.
Harold Cope of Earlham College, appeared before the Board with plans foe a new
driveway into Earlham from US #40 along the western part of the College next
to the cemetery. The Board approved a 30 foot curb for the driveway.
The Board approved two (2) 30 foot curb cuts for the Encrete Corporation,
builders of a motel at 3330 East Main Street, also took under advisement a
request from William Orr, Engineer for the Encrete Corporation to construct
a .3 or 4 foot fence around the swimming pool.
Complaints of water standing in front of 904-906 Peacock Road, was referred to
Street Commissioner Lawrence.
Acting City Engineer Ross, reported that the assessment roll for the improvement
of Parry Street was completed. The Board ordered the roll filed and instructed
the Clerk to advertise for a public hearing. (1022-1958) 9th to 13th.
The Board approved a request from the Merchants Association to hold a parade
Friday November, 25, 1960, announcing the coming of Santa Claus.
Acting City Engineer Ross, reported that the Robinson Bros. construction Co.
has completed the curbs and gutters on South West "F" street, and was ready
for City maintenance, which was referred to Street Commissioner Lawrence.
Acting City Engineer Ross, reported the paving of North "C" street between
8th and 9th would be completed this week, and would be opened for traffic
in approx. two (2) weeks.
Complaints of bad street conditions at South "H" between 14th and 15th and Edna
Street, were referred to Street Commissioner Lawrence.
Street Commissioner Lawrence, was instructed to repair the driveway into the
Sanitary District.
City Attorney Cecere, reported that he was preparing a letter to the State
Highway Dept. to repair the street surface on Liberty Ave. that still is
under State maintenance.
The Board referred a request for street lighting on Indiana Ave. at the entrance
to Worley Court to the Richmond Power and Light for estimate and recommendation.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
