November 10, 1960 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall, with City Controller Wilson presiding. Those in attendance being Wilson, and Ed Ross. The following business was had to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Francis Williams, south 13th and "E" street, appeared before the Board, requesting parking space for pick-up and delivery on south "E" street, jyst east of 13th street. Mr. Williams complained of vehicles parking next to his business establishment for prolonged periods. Referred to Capt. Stout of Traffic for study and. recommendation. Acting Engineer Ross, discussed and approved the installation of water on Sharon Street. The Board ordered that the water be installed so as to complete the loop on Sharon Drive, to provide fire protection and water service. Chief Conyers, appeared before the Board, requesting that Lt. Wolf be promoted to Captain. The Board approved this action, effective November 16th, 1960. Mr. Reller and Mr. Robinson were present to discuss fly-ash from the Swayne-Robinson Foundry. Mr. Wilson explained the problem and why they were asked to appear before the Board. Fire Chief Klotz appeared and explained the results of his recent visit to the foundry. Methods of correction of the smoke problem were discussed. Mr. Reller said that in the operation they would do everything possible to improve the conditions and would co-operate in every way possible. Mr. Reller requested street lights, on Backmeyer Road. The Board referred this matter to Richmond Light and Power for study and recommendation. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. President Attest• �' �✓ City Clerk 6
