BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
October 27, 1960
The Board of Public Works and Safety, met in regular session in City Hall
with City Controller Wilson, President of the Board presiding, City Attorney
Cecere and acting City Engineer Ross present. The following business was
had to-wit:
City Controller Wilson, moved that the minutes of the previous meeting
be dispensed with, seconded by City Attorney Cecere.
City Controller Wilson, moved that the Board approve the estimate and
recommendation of the Richmond Power and Light for Street Lighting in the
Hosapple Sub-Division, seconded by Acting Engineer Ross. The Clerk was
instructed to advise the Light Plant to proceed with the installation.
The following complaints were submitted to the Board, concerning unfinished
construction work by the Robinson Bros.
(1) Southwest 8th street
(2) Southwest "F" street
(3) Alley between 13th & 15th (north)
Board President Wilson, will call in the Robinson Bros. for a conference
on getting the construction work cleaned up.
The Board referred a petition, submitted by residents owning property in the
vicinity of Northwest 7th street, for a sanitary sewer, from Richmond Ave.
north approximately 500 ft. to the City Engineering Department for Plans
and Specifications.
The Board confirmed the Assessment Roll for Improvement Resolution 1033-1960,
(sewer on the Elks Country Club Road ) and instructed the Clerk to set Nov.
17th 1960 for a public hearing for persons interested in the Resolution.
The Board instructed the Clerk to prepare a preliminary Resolution and
advertise for a public hearing November 17th 1960, for persons interested
in Improvement Resolution 1039-1960, the construction of concrete sidewalks
from Henley Road to the Elks Country Club Road, on the North side of Main
Street.
The Board approved the estimate and recommendation of the Light Plant for
a street light on South 25th street, south of "A" street. The Clerk was
instructed to advise the Light Plant to proceed with the installation.
Fire Chief Klotz, reported that he had investigated the smoke complaints
against the Westcott Hotel, and the Home Laundry and they were co-operative.
in trying to find a solution. A representive of the Swayne-Robinson Co.
will be asked to appear before the Board next week to try to work out a
solution to their smoke problem. -
Fire Chief Klotz, reported the electrical wiring that was ordered as a
safety measure for the Gilmer Trailer Camp was rapidly being completed.
Mayor Roland H. Cutter, in appointing Ed. Ross, Supertendent of the Sanitary
District, as acting City Engineer, said that he appreciates very much that
Mr. Ross is willing to take upon himself the duties of the City Engineer and
serve on the Board.of Works, until a permenent City Engineer is employed.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
