BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
October 20, 1960
City Controller Wilson, City Attorney Cecere and Acting City Engineer

The Doard of Public Works and Safety, met in regular session with City
Controller Wilson, president of the Board presiding. The following
business was had to wit:
The Board of Public and Safety, instructed the Clerk to inform (by letter)
Mr. W.H. Rodefeld, developer of the Crestdal Addition on the Chester Blvd.
that street lights would be ordered and installed as soon as sufficient
developement has been attained in the sub-division to warrant street lighting.
The Board approved a curb cut of 30 ft. to widen a drive way at 425 Northwest
"L" street, requested by Paul Kettleforder.
A request for 2 curb cuts of 15ft. each, one at 1650 Central Drive, and one
at 1650 Middle Drive in Berry Field, for a through driveway, was approved
by the Board. The request made by Tyrus Berry.
City Attorney Cecere, moved that the Board award the contract for the
improvement and widening of North "C" street, between North 8th and 9th
streets to the DeBolt Concrete Co. Inc. of Richmond, Indiana, on their
unit price bid, the quantity to be supplied by the City Engineering Office,
subject that at no time are the bids to exceed the amount of the funds
' appropriated, seconded by City Controller Wilson. The unit bids are:

Gene Thompson, owner of the Volkswagon automobile dealership, appeared
before the Board, and ask permission to park cars on Main Street for display
purposes, the request was denied as being against the policy of the Board
to grant such requests.
The Board rejected a request by the YMCA for 2 parking spaces on the South
side of North "A" street, west of the 8th street for October 25th and 25th.

The Board authorized William Adler, of the City Parking Meter Department to
investigate the means and cost of obtaining hoods for parking meters, as
protection against the "Bird " nusiance.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
