The,Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in special session on being natified of the death on Monday, May 30, 1960, of one of the Community's most outstanding citizens, Joseph M. After a review of the public services rendered to this community, a record which began with his appointment to the position of Sealer of Weights and Measures, then his election in 1913 to the Common Council, then his election as Mayor in 1935, and finally his election again to the Common Council in 1955, it was noted that he not only held elected and appointed offices, but more importantly, he served, he gave wholeheartedly of his ability and his time. It was especially noted that during Mr. Waltermann's last four years of service to the City, as Councilman-at-large from 1956 to 1960, his background and experience in City government were invaluable to the new City Administration and to the Board. His recommendations, his counseling and his guidance assisted inchartering the course of the executive and legislative branch of Richmond's government. • Among Mr. Waltermanns many attributes two oth ers must be recorded, his sense of humor when tempers were ignited by debate, and his devoted concern for his fellow citizens. IT IS THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana , that: 1. The heartfelt sympathy of this Board be conveyed to Mr. Waltermann's devoted wife, Amelia, and their children; and that a copy of the minutes of this Special Meeting be delivered to the family. 2. That all offices in City Hall be closed on Thursday, June 2, 1960, from 10:00 o'clock a.m. to 12:00 o'clock noon. 3.
