HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-21-1960 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY RICHMOND, INDIANA January 21, 1960 - The Board._of Public Works and Safety met in regular .session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. All members present. Minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The following business was had To Wit. City Attorney Cecere moved that Board approve the installation of a Street Light at the intersection of the Henley and Backmeyer Roads, per the estimate of the MEL & PP, seconded by City Engineer Deuker. - Ill ' The Board approved the installation of street signs in Pine Manor subdivision at South West 17th and "G", and South West 18th and "G" streets, the decision referred to Capt. Stout, traffic. The Board approved the request of H. Burl Shook to move a dwelling from 937 South 9th St. to 1010 South 13th St. , the mover being responsible for any damage caused by the moving, (streets, wires, ete,) This date has been set for a public hearing, concerning the matter of demolition of a condemned building at 1224 South 14th St. owned by Mrs. Solie Mustapha. No persons being present to express themselues, the Board authorized Building Commissioner Sligar to advertize for bids for the razing of this building. Mayor Cutter received a request from the Indiana:.Adjutant Generals office for samples of soil from test holes at the present armory grounds an West Main St, for the possible construction of a full sized armory there. • The Board moved to accept the low bid of Dea Meadows Ford Sales, for a Fairlane 4 door sedan, for the use of the Fire Chief. Mr. D.W. Pinston, appeared .before the Board„and ask permission to use the No. 3 Hose House at North 15th and "A" St. , for Vie headquarters of the U.S. Geological Survey Division for approx: e'th Board moved to grant the request. Mel Price, assistant Fire Chief, reported that the Boy8s Club had obtained a Fire escape, -and were having it installed on the West Side of No, 4 Hose House, (at their expense) as per the Fire Marshalls recommendation. The Board granted the Fire and. Police Departments permission to send 2 members of each department to the Public Safety Institute at ; .urdue University 2-3-4.
