HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-07-1960 BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY January 7, i960 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. All members present, minutes of the previous meeting dispensed with. The following business was had T o;Wit." II The Clerk read proofs of publication, showing this date , had been set to hear persons interested in Assessment Rolls 1023-1959 and 1024-1959 City Attorney Cecere moved that the proofs be accepted. Seconded by Board 'President Wilson. There being no persons present desiring to express themselves , the( Board moved the Assessment Rolls be confirmed. City Attorney Cecere , moved that building inspector Sligar be instructed and authorized to advertise for the razing of two (2) buildings that have been heretofore condemned by the Board of Public Works and Safety. ( L) building on the property of Mrs. Ethel Gibson, at 4.08 North 15th Street ,' (2) building on the property of Lorena Dunham at 1134 Sheridan St. Seconded by Board President Wilson. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify Mrs. Solie Mustapha , 506 Grand Ave. Dayton, Ohio that a hearing date of January 21, 1960 has been set concerning the matter of condemnation of her property at 1224 South 14th Street. Building inspector Sligar, reported that a number of construction projects had been started without building permits , the Board advised the police department to report any building activities without a posted permit. Fire Chief Klotz , was granted permission to attend the instruction school at Purdue University, the week of January 11 , 1960. Assistant Chief of Police Conyers appeared before II the, Board with a recommendation to purchase 2 cars for the police department , trading in a 1957 Ford, City Attorney Cecere , moved to grant the recommendation, seconded by President Wilson. The Clerk was instructed to advertise for bids. City Controller Wilson, reported that a number of parking tickets issued during 1959 had not been paid, City Attorney Cecere , moved to issue warrants after January 31, 1960 to delinquent offenders and add a $4.00 court costs to each $1.00 ticket , seconded by City Engineer Dueker. Capt. Stout , Traffic , reported that traffic signals were in need of cleaning and oiling, the Board approved the assignment of men to do this job. The Board approved Capt. Stout 's recommendation that parking be restricted on North "D" Street , between 8th and 9th Streets. City Engineer Deuker reported a petition from Harold Ryan 202 No. West 17th Street for a curb cut for a private driveway, the petition was taken under advisement.
