HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-19-1959 Page 11I`/b Board OfPublic Works And Safety • Richmond, Indiana November 19 , 1959 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. City Attorney Cecere absent. Minutes dispensed with. The following Businesswas had To-Wit : Mr. ;William Townsend-, Wayne Sign 'Company, asked permission for the erection of a canopy at 1009 E. Main St. Said canopy to be 33 ' long,$'' above the sidewalk and to extend 6'from the building. The Board approved this installation provided it meets the requirements of the Bureau of Builders. The Board noted the report from the Commissioner of Buildings regardings the 4th quarter meeting of the Board of Plumbing Examiners. The Clerk read copies of letters as written by the Commissioner of Buildings as follows: To Mr. E. Blue , 719 N.W."L" St.ordering him to discontinue his junk business at his residence , and to Mrs Mary Johnson , advising her that the condemnation order for her property at 71-711 had been recinded. ' The following complaints were referred to the Street Department: Zoar and Campbell avenues in bad condition; Accumulation of leaves in depression in Street at 1217 Ridge St. full of water soaked leaves 1100&1200 Block of Ridge in very rough condition; Corner of N.W."M"and Harris in need of gravel; berms of N.W."L" between Sheridan and N.W. 5th very rough,and Waterfall Road between river and Williamsburg Pike very rough. Rich Road, west of US 35 in need of repair, and hole in South "E" between Garden Avenue and South 6th needs filling. IIMrs. Delbert Drew, 31 N.W. "F" (Railroad St. ) asked the Commission of Bldgs.to check the dwellings next door for possible violatios. The Following reported bad curbs were referred to the Street Department: N.W. corner of North 17th and "B" Street and S.E. corner of N. 15th &"B" St. Fire Chief Williams reported that the alley running east and west bet"ween N. 15th and N.16th between Main and N. "A" was very rough and needed repair. This was referred to the Street Department. • It was noted that November 26th was Thanksgiving and that the Board would hold it 's weekly meeting on Wednesday , November 25 , 1959. City Controller Wilson reported that the alley Nort of the City Building was breaking up. This Wassreferred to the City Engineer. In view of the fact that leaves washed into the sewers clog them up , the St. Department was asked to pick up leaves possible before they got into the sewer system. Complaints of the incinerator at the rear of the Ravinia Plaza Shopping Center were referred to the Fire Department. A requestby the Standard Oil Company for two 30' curbs cut on South 9th Ione 40 ' curb cut on Parry , and one 40 'curb cut on South "L"for entrances to a service station were taken under advisement and referred to the Traffic Dept. and City Engineer for study. The request of Councilman Marino for a study to be made of a possible traffic light at South 4th & "A" was referred to the Traffic Dept. Gateway Builders second request for St. lights on S.W.17th&1$th at "G" St. was taken under advisement. There being no further business , the meeting adjourned. Z//// \ LJ Pres. Attest ( / y /7 Clerk
