All members present. Minutes dispensed with. The following business was had To-Wit: Mr. Ralph Brooks, 2914 SE Parkway, reminded the Board that the ditch along SE Parkway was still open and smelly and should be opened for better drainage . He was advised that plans are being made for a sewer in —di „di in this area and that the sewer would correct this matter. Lt. Stout, Traffic , and the owners of taxi cab companies appeared before the Board. The owners were informed of numerous complaints received about the mechanical condition of taxi cabs. A -general discussion of rates, inspections, etc . was held and the owners were informed that it was possible that legislation would be pass- ed' to require regular inspection of cabs. Mr. James Garrett appeared and informed the Board that he had beeh holding turkey shoots in the old gravel pti on NW ."L" St . and asked permission to continue . Police- Chief Mitrione investigated the shooting range and the shooting was ordered discontinued because this area was recently annexed and was unsage for the use of firearms. • Mr. James E. Loer, Henry B. Steeg & Associates, presented to the Board copies of the Master Plan for Surface Water Drainage as prepared by his company. Mayor Cutter .reproted that he had received word that the Census Bureau had informed him that Fire Station / 3 had been accepted • as headquarters for conducting the 1960 census . Bill Adler, Parking Meter Maintenance man presented items for - . consideration in 'the 1960 budget fo the Parking Meter Department . • The Clerk read a letter from Mr. W. H. Rodefeld offering the City approximately 40 acres of ground north of the City and west. df Chester Blvd. for use as a park area. This offer was referred to the Park Board. The Board approved the Parking Meter Department Budget for 1960 in the amount of .. 54, 034.00, including 025,000.00 for the pur- chase fo 500 new parking. meters . • • The Police Department was asked to check the reported display of • merchandise on the sidewalk at the store between Raldolph & Richmond Ave . on NW 3rd St . Councilman Smithmeyer said he had received inquiries regarding Fire Protection and street lights for the South Richmond area. He was told that fire protection would be discussed at the next meeting of the Board and that street lights would be ordered installed when the MEL & PP had purchased the customers form the Public Service Company of Indiana. The Board approved a curb cut for Knowles Tool Company-said cut111 being adjacent to that Company_ on South 7th Street . There Being no further business, the eeting adjoured: resident Attest : j Clerk
