A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A JOINT APPLICATION TO THE OPEN
STREETS PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Los Angeles and CicLAvia have organized "open streets" events,
which seek to close down streets to vehicular traffic so that residents can gather,
exercise, and participate in pedestrian, bicycling, skating and other related events; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has made available a
competitive grant through Open Streets Program to fund "open streets" events; and
WHEREAS, a collaboration from City of Huntington Park, City of South Gate,
County of Los Angeles, and City of Los Angeles may increase the City's chance of
obtaining the grant and share in the cost.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council authorize staff to collaborate with the City of
Huntington Park , City of South Gate, City of Los Angeles and /or County of Los Angeles
and CicLAvia for the submittal of an application to the MTA's Open Streets Program.
Section 2. That the City Council authorize the City Manager or her designee to
execute on behalf o the City of Lynwood all grant related documents, including but not
limited to, Application, Payment Requests, Agreement and Amendment necessary to
secure the grant funding under the MTA's Open Streets Program and implement the
approved grant if awarded.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
