HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-13-1959 185 OFFICE OF THE BOARD'` OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY , RICHMOND , INDIANA • FRIDAY , FEBRUARY 13 , 1959 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller presiding. City Attorney Cecere was absent. The reading of the minutes of the _Previous meeting was dispensed with. • 11 Mr. Stanley , Hunt Paving Company , told the Board he had the contract for the work on U. S. #27 , south of Richmond beginning at the south curb line of South "L" Street, and asked for sug- gestions and help in detouring' traffic while work is being done from "L" south to the C.and 0. overpass . He said he planned to begin work the first weep in March , weather permitting . The Board unanimously approved the following detour ; on South " 0" Street , west to south 5th Street , north on South 5th Street to South " L" Street and east to South 9th Street, for north-bound traffic . For south-bound traffic the detour would be just the reverse . Mr . Staley told the Board that Radford Brown would be superintendent of the job. Mr . Wilbur Fulle , grocer at North 5th and "A" Street, appeared again and said he and the Traffic Division had not been able to get together on a solution to his problem. City Controller Wilson said he and the City Engineer would get with the Traffic Division and survey the situation. Police Chief Mitrione announced that International Police Combat Pistol Matches were going to be held at Indiana University on May 22 ,23 & 24th and he had been asked to serve as a Range Officer. He was given permission to serve as Range Officer for these matches . The Clerk was instructed to prepare advertisements for bids for a vehicle to be used by the parking meter department. The Mayor told the Board he- had received no official word on the proposed census for Richmond. Father Minton of the Holy Family Church asked for a street light on SW Sth Street at the entrance to the parking lot at the rear of the church. This was taken under advisement. The Mayor reported he had received a call from the residents of 5 S . 27th Street regarding water backing up in the basement from the sewer . This was referred to the City Engineer and Supt. of the Sewage Disposal Plant. A letter from Councilman Vivian regarding water drainage in the area of the 1300 block on South 15th Street was referred to the Engineering Dept. The Board authorized the purchase _of 25 ,000 parking tickets from the Curtis 1000, Inc. Company for $690.00 . There being no further business , the meeting adjourned. Attest: 4f•-/-41=/' � �
