FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1958 The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. All members present. The minutes of the previous meeting dispensed with. the following business was had,- to-wit; The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to hear persons interested in Improvement Resolution 1016-1958 (Sanitary sewer between -S. 3 d & C.O. & R.R. from "C" to "D" . ) Action on this was postponed until Feb. 14, 1958. Mr. Orville Snyder,Richmond Baking Company, asked the Board if 5 minute parking limit signs could be placedin front of the bake shop on North 6th - Ill Street for a distance of 100 feet. Action deferred until a report is made by It.Stout of the Police Dept. • Guy Warfield, Warfield Oil Co. , told the Board that the State Highway Dept. bias buying property onSouth 8th & 9th fro U.S. 27, and that they would buy his property that had oil storage tanks on it. He said he would like to know if the City would trade the ground between S. "N" & "0" for the Day property near the Whitewater Generating Plant so he could move his storage tanks when necessary. He was asked to come to the- Board meeting on Feb.' 14 for a decision. It was reported to the Board by the Fire Dept. that the following locations had buildings on that they were in a bad state of repair and were a hazard and should be condemned; 835 & 837 North 12th St. , 818 & 820 North 18th St. , & 731 & 733 North 12th St. The City Attorney was instructed to prepare a procedure so these buildings could be torn down. The lire Dept. also re- ported that the old Starr School should be torn down as it is definitly a hazard. • Dick Chamberlain, Fitzwater Tree Service, Greenville,Ohio, spoke to the Board regarding the removing of tree stumps in the City. He was advised that there was no money available at the present time for this works_. but -removal of stumps may be a future project for the City. City Controller Wilson moved the bid for a 1958 station wagon for the ._ :Police Chief be awarded to Rhoads Auto Sales on their bid of 82549 .00 as - !-this was the best 'bid because of the extra equipment over and above the specifications called for. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. The Board approved one ,parking space for fi . Cox, 1210 E.Main. The sign for this space to be designed by the Traffic Division. and approved by the Board. The City Controller reported that the work of installing overhead traffic lane markers would -begine within a week. Said signs to be installed for the traffic control of North "D" Street between Ft.Wayne Ave -& North 5th Street. A request for a street light in the 1200 block of Green Street was ferred to the Light Plant for an estimate. The Board unaminously agreed that the placing of a fence along the bank above the Whitewater Blvd. between Kinsey and Randolph along NW 1st St. would be too expensive to undertake. • The request for a yellow loading zone at 132 S. 8th St was taken under advisement until such time as the Public Health Nursing office moves to a new location. - There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
