WORKS & SAFETY, RICHMOND,IND.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 31, 1958
The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall
with City Controller Wilson presiding. All members present. The minutes
of the previous meeting dispensed with. The following business was had,
to-wit;
The Clerk presented proofs of publication showing that this date had been
set to hear persons interested in Improvement Resolution No.1015-1957 -
II curb, gutters, and sidewalks on both sides of South 7th St from "0" to "Q"
Streets. The proofs were ordered filed. The City Engineer announced that
nine resident property owners were effected and that 4 of these had signed
the petition for the improvement. Two property owners and representatives
from the NATCO and Automotive Gear Works spoke against the improvement and
two property owners spoke for it. Those against were; Mr. Plankenhorn,
1636 S. 7th: Mr. Alfred Smith, 634 S. "Q": Frank Miller, NATCO and Willard
Pram, Gear Works. Those for were; John Hilton, 1603 S. 7th and Mr. Fannin,
bating lots 221 & 222 from Lewis Laswell. The City Attorney moved this
improvement be taken under advisement. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker.
The Board gave unaminous a proval .for the Fire Chief to attend an Adminis-
tration Seminar at Purdue university on 2-5, 6 & 7, 1958.
City Attorney Cecere moved to approve the following recommendations of Lt.
Walter Stout; install signs reading. NO PARKING FROM 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
on north -side of SW "E" St. , between SW 1st & 2nd Street and on the east
- side of SW 2nd Street from SW "E" Street north to yellow curb and NO
PARKING ANYTIME signs on SW 2nd St as follows; west side, 40' north of
intersection of SW "E" St. , and on east side 40' south of intersection of
SW "E" Street. Seconded by City Controller Wilson.
The Board gave approval for parking on Whitewater Blvd. in front of Rich-
mond High School in the area adjacent to the center island.
City Engineer Deuker moved to award the bid for a bituminous spreader for
the Street Department to the Deeds Equipment Co. ,Inc. of Lawrenceburg,Ind.
for the bid price of $6200.00. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere.
The Clerk was instructed to get specifications from the Street Commissioner
for a chassis to be used with the bituminous spreader and to advertise for
bids on. the same.
Street Commissioner Darr was authorized to prepare specifications for a
street sweeper and the Clerk to advertise for bids.
Park Commissioner McBride announced that there would be a demonstration on
tree stump removal at the north end of South 10th Street Park at 1:00 P,M.
on February 6,1958 and invited the Board to attend. The demonstration will
be made by a tree surgery company from Greenville,0hio.
