FRIDAY, JANUARY, 3, 1958 • The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Con- troller Wilson presiding. All members present. The minutes of the previous meeting dispensed with. The following business was had, to-wit; • City Attorney Cecere- moved that City Controller Wilson be President of the Board in 1958. Seconded by City r'ngineer Deuker. Unaminous. Mr. Will Reller and Darrell Sheffer appeared before the Board and advised them that because of inadequate revenue received at night, the City Bus Lines would discontinue night service; except on the nights when stores areopen, effective January 13, 1958. Police Chief Mitrione presented the Board with specifications for 2 new station wagons for use as crusiers and one new station wagon for use by the Chief as well as specifi- nations for 3 new motorcycles for use by the Police Department. The Chief reported he planned to have the 1957 car now used by the Assistant Chief repainted and made avail- able for the detectives, and to give his present station' wagon to the Assistant Chief. City Attorney Cecere moved the specifications be approved and the Clerk advertise for bids. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set for a public hear- ing on Assessment Roll 1008-1956. No persons appearing, City Engineer Deuker moved the assesment roll be approved. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. City Engineer Deuker moved to take the proposed street lighting of streets from Abing- ton Pike to SW 1st & Lin-Kay Place to SE "I" under advisement. Seconded by City Attor- ney Cecere. • The City Controller read a letter from Self-Help Builders asking for fire protection in the Milleson Sub-Division on SW "H" Street starting at SE 5th. This was referred to the Fire Chief for information and taken under advisement. The Clerk read a letter from L.F.Miller regarding his two buildinga at S. 9th & "E" St. He advised the Board that he was contacting several parties regarding the tearing down of these buildings and that they would be razed in the very near future. Donald Sliger, Building Inspector, made his annual report to the Board and said that $12,169,125.00 was the estimated total of all construction started in this area in 1957 and that 1241 permits had been issued by his office. The Board uaaminously approved curb cuts at South 10th & "A" St-one cut on South 10th and one South South "A".
