WORKS & SAFETY,RICHMOND,IND
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20,1957
The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Pon-
troller Wilson presiding. All members present. The minutes of the previous meeting
dispensed with. The following business was had, to-wit;
On recommendation of Fire Chief Williams, the Board instructed the Water Works to
install two fire hydrants on North West 6th as soon as possible.
City Engineer Deuker reported that the Richmond Gas Company would correct the con-
dition of the alley along John-Mansville Fence.

A petition was presented to the Board for street lights between South 9th & 13th on
South "Q", This was referred to the Light Plant.
Dr. Vance requested parking space on the northeast corner of South 10th & "A" St.
Sgt. Stout, Traffic Division, recommended that one meter be removed nearest the alley
and made yellow curb for ambulance and emergency service only. Approved by City At-
torney Cecere, seconded by City Engineer Deuker. .
Approval was given for "NO PARKING" and yellow curb on the east side of North 5th St
from Ft. Wayne Ave to 20 feet north of the first alley.
On motion of the Board, all obstructions from gutters used as drive-ways approaches
are to be removed by Jan. 15,1958 after this date, removal will be at the expense of
the property owners. .
It was announced that all City offices will be closed for Xmas week & New Years week,
Wed. & Thurs. The Controllers office, however, will be closed to the public Wed.
through Sunday.,-
Police Chief Mitrione-recommended that signs be placed at 5th & Main St to show location
of the City Building and a neon sign be placed above theCity Hall door and re-locate
the U.S. Flag from top of the tower to above entrance door. City Attorney Cecere approved.
Seconded by City Controller Wilson.
Kenney Smithmeyer asked for a report on the condemnation of a house at South 9th &
"E" St and was advised by the Mayor that the owner, Mr. Miller, had been notified that
he would have to correct situation. If not corrected in near future, the Board will
condemn and order removed.
The Board moved to install meter collection boxes, 2 per block from 5th to llth on
Main and one in front of theCity Hall.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
