FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, 1957 The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Con- troller Wilson presiding. All members present. The minutes of the previous meeting dispensed with. The following business was had, to-wit; Mre.Larry Harris appeared to protest against the employees of Johns-Manville parking at North West 9th & Richmond Ave., blocking the street and the fire plug. Yellow curbs are to be painted at the corner to correet this. 111 City Engineer Deuker moved the alley North of Main Street from 5th to Fort Wayne Ave. be made a one-way west bound. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. City Attorney Cecere moved a letter of appreciation be sent to the town Board- of Cen- terville for their. cooperation in the standby service at the International Harvester Fire, Seconded by City Controller Wilson. Mayor Cutter reported that the School City at their Board meeting, were aggreable to some-arrangements on the parking lot at Civic Hall if a lease of some type can beeagreed - on and the cost is not prohibitive. Costs estimates are to be prepared as soon as poss- ible for the black topping on base. • • Mayor Cutter also reported the School Board offered the City the old Starr school pro- perty for use as possible playground area. This was accepted by the Board. City Controller Wilson, su ggested the possiblity of retaining the building or the area fortlocation of a Youth Center. • Police Chief Mitrione recommended Thomas Irvin Rowland, 26 years old, married with two (2) children, be appointed as probation patroleman, effective December 10, 1957. City Attorney Cecere so approved. Seconded by City Controller Wilson. Police Chief Mitrione also recommended that Sgt. Wolf and Sgt. Stout be promoted to the rank of Lieutenants as of January 1, 1958. Approved by City Controller Wilson. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. Th Ole presented proofs of publication that this date had been set for hearing on Al?"— 1015-1957 (South 7th St. S.
