FRSDAY,' NOVEMBER 15, 1957 The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. All members present. "he minutes of the previous meeting dispensed with. The following business was had, towit; Mr. Furnas of Earlham College made a report to the Board concerning the previous complaints from surrounding residents about the smoke and dirt coming from the heating plant at the College. They have discontinued cleaning .of the flues and will have the new parts installed IIIThanksgiving weekend and also will have reports very soon on Engineers changes to completely correct the condition. A letter to the same effect covering the complete was left with the Board for the files. A report that a sign causing traffic hazards at Indianapolis Avenue and Northwest 5th Street was made. Sgt. Stout to contact owner and make a report in near future. A study of the traffic condition at the Perfect Circle Plant and Alcoa Plant is to be made by Sgt. Stout and report given. Fire Chief Williams reports he would like to trade the old obsolete water wagon, to the Park Dept. for a 3/4 ton pick-truck. As both departmentw would profit by this trade, City Controll Wilson approved. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. Mr. Salzarulo made a` report that the sidewalk at 12th & Main Street needed repairs. This was reported to the rSt"reetr Dept. Approval was given the Second National Bank to install a Snorkel System on North 8th Street, when the Bank furnishes certificate of policy of proper coverage of insurance to holdthe city harmless. _ Police Chief Mitrione recommend the appointment of Richard Glen Irvine, 105 North 16th St., 25 years of age to the Police Dept. effective November 26, 1957, Approval by City_Attorney Cecere. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. No Parking Signs are to be installed on City property at Sheridan and Richmond Avenue in front of McNeil Electric and also yellow curb at same location, There being. no further business, the meeting adjourned.
