COFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC
WORKS & SAFETY, RICHMOND, IND.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 1957
The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City
Controller Wilson presiding. Amembers present. The minutes of the previous meeting
dispensed with. The following business was had, to-wit;
City Attorney Cecere moved the. following transfer of funds be made in the budget of
the Fire Department; $150.00 from Repair of Buildings & Structures to Traveling Ex-
penses, and $200.00 ffom Gasoline to Garage & Motor Supplies. City Controller Wilson
seconded.
111 The Clerk read a:_letter from the Home Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co. asking permission to
install a sign in front of their call office designating the restricted zone for use of
their patrons. The Board refused this request because they cannot give special private
parking facilities on City streets.
The City Engineer was instructed by the Board to investigate further the complaint of
Bill Libgle and Mrs. Sanders about the horses on South 23rd St.
Home owners living on SW 1st between "E" and "G" appeared before the Board and complained
of the destruction and damage caused by high school students who park their cars on that
street. Stg. Stout was instructed to study this situation and make recommendations to
the Board.
Sgt. Stout advised the Board that Everett Eastman, State Highway Dept. , had 'received
permission to install overhead traffic signs at various intersections in the City, and
all the City would have to, do would be install the poles to hold the signs.
City Attorney Cecere moved that effective November 19',1957, the pay of probationary
Patrolmen be increased to within five dollars ( $5.00) a month of the pay received by
first class Patrolmen. Seconded by City Controller Wilson.
Police Chief Mitrione reported he had been to several second class cities and he gave
their plans for traffic control during emergency runs by the fire and police department
` He said he would make recommendations to the Board after he had conferred with the
Fire Chief.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
