HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-20-1957 73 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 1957 The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. City Attorney Cecere absent. Minutes dispensed with. The following busi- ness was had, to-Nit; • Mr. Carl Milles of Hercules & Sons, asked the Board approval for installation of a marque at 724 Main Street. Approval was granted provided installation is made to confrom with regulations regarding such installations. IIIMr. Paul Loos, 57 S.23rd St. , appeared before the Board and complained of the flooding of the rear of his property. He said because of this condition he was not able to properly care for his lot. This taken under advisement while it is investigated. Representatives of the I.R.C. & D., Motor Freight Co. explained to the Board why their trucks have been using South "A" Street. They said that ,with the heavy traffic at 2nd & Main, the one way street at 3rd, and the traffic at 4th and Main, they had difficulties getting their trucks onto Main Street, _and were using South "A" as far east as S.16th before going north to Main Street. They said they had been requested by the Police Dept. to go no further east on South "A" than 16th St. Councilman Smithmeyer reported to the Board that dirt from a yard at the NW corner of South 13th & "C" Street was washing over the sidewalk and causing an unsafe condition. The City Engineer said he would investigate and have the situation corrected. 'The Board approved the installation of "STOP" signs on Southeast Parkway at Henley Road. Police Chief Mitrione reported a survey indicated the parking ban on the south side of Main St. from W. 2nd to W. 5th could be lifted as there is not enough eastbound traffic to warrant the ban. City Cohtroller Wilson so moved. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. Police Chief Mitrione recommended parking on SW 5th from the first alley south of Main to National Road West be banned. City Engineer ')euker so moved. Seconded by City Controller Wilson. 111 City Controller Wilson moved that no change be made in the drives to the service station at South 5th and "G". (Access from "G" S+) Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. The Clerk said he had been contacted regarding limited parking on South llth St. from Main - to "A". Taken under advisement. Max McKinney, Reid-Holcomb Co. explained to the Board the operations of a Wayne Street sweeper. City .6ngineer Deuker moved the bid for a 3/4 ton truck for the Street Dept. be awarded to the low bidder, Kurdys Chevrolet, for $1470.00. Seconded by City Controller Wilson. City .Engineer Deuker moved the bid for a Police Ambuland-cruiser be awarded to Dea Meadows Ford Sales for $2375.00. Seconded by City Controller Wilson.
