FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 13,1957 ` The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Con- troller Wilson presiding. All members present. Minutes dispensed with. The following business was had, to-wit; The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to receive bids on a 3/4 ton truck for the Street Department and a Station Wagon for the Police Dept. The following bids were received for the Street Dept. truck: Dea Meadows Ford Sales -1958 model $ 1760.00 net' Kurdys Chevrolet-1957 model 1470.00 net City Engineer Deuker moved these bids be taken under advisement. Seconded by City Con- troller Wilson. ' The following bid was received for the Police Dept. Station Wagon: Dea Meadows Ford Sales - 1958 model 2375.00 net. City Controller Wilson moved the bid be taken under advisement. Seconded by City Engineer. Deuker. The Board received a petition from residents and property owners living on South 16th St. ' from' "J" to "Cr, asking the City to dredge the open ditch running parallel to South 16th from "J" to "Q" and the replacement of the present culvert under South "L" with a larger culvert or a bridge. The City Engineer said he would have some recommendations to this project in the near future and moved to take under advisement. Seconded by City Controller - Wilson. Mayor Cutter reported he had been in contact with the Engineers at Johns Manville and discussed the problem of fumes and dust coming from that plant. The Engineers said they were aware of the condition, but couldn't find the cause of it. They will continue to work on this problem until a solution is found. Sgt. Walter Stout recommended 20 mile per hour signs be placed on South 14th and "B" St. and at South 14th and "D" St. to slow traffic for Vaile school. City Engineer Deuker moved this installation be made. Seconded by City Controller Wilson. City Engineer Deuker moved the recommendation of Sgt. Stout to remove one parking meter in front of St.Mary's Church on North "A" St. to allow more loading and unloading space be approved. Seconded by City Controller Wilsoh. Sgt. Stout reported he had installed a "Dead End" sign on Harris Street at NW "K" Street, but did not recommend "Stop" signs at this intersection0 The Board approved a request of Police Chief Mitrione for Sgt.Stout to attend the North- western University Traffic Institute from Sept. 23 to Oct: 11,1957. The Board approved Assesment Rolls 1006-1956 (Improve alley between S.14th & 15th from "C" to "D") and 1009.1956 (Improve alley west of SW 4th St.from 1st alley south of Nat'l. Rd.West to SW "C" ST) and ordered the Clerk to advertise for a hearing on same. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. • esident. Attest: 4yg .'/s' /, - Clerk 7
