WORKS & SAFETY, RICHMOND,INDIANA

The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Con-
troller Wilson presiding. All members present. The following business was had, to-wit;
Minutes dispensed with.
Jim McCoskey-;and Russe11F:RRobb'ins:.told'-.the Board::they::wanted: to open a.:new area for de-
velopment in the SE section of the City and .that a culvert was needed at South 17th and
"I" Street for access to the area. City Engineer Deuker moved the City install a 60"
pipe under South 17th at "I". Seconded by City Attorney Cecere.
The traffic officer was instructed to investigate the need of a 4 way stop at Southwest
1st and "D" St.
Harry Robinson and Fred Klotz appeared before the Board end explained the tests that
had been given prospective -fireman and recommended that Paul L.McDaniel,age 27, 1212
South "F" St., and Cleal Rheuble® age 22, 318 North 5th Street, be appointed proba-
tionary fireman starting 9..3-57 for a period of one year. City Attorney Cecere moved
these appointments be made. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker..

Assistant Police Chief Conyers reported the last of the flasher lights in the school
zones were being installed and that the five crossing guards employed last year were
instructed when to report to their stations when school opens.
The City Engineer was instructed to contact the State Highway Dept. to see if the City
could removed the traffic light in the middle of North 5th Street at "A" to eliminate
this traffic hazard.
