RICHMOND,INDIANA FRIDAY, JUNE 14, 1957 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson, presiding. City- Attorney Cecere absent. The following business was had; to-tilt Minutes dispensed with. ., IIIMr. Winton Tibbs, President of Tibbs Cab Co., appeared and asked for a reserved parking space on South 8th by the Company office. City Engineer Deuker moved this request be taken under advisement until an investigation can be made. Fire Chief Williams reported he had received numerous complaints about the burning of cars and the resulting smoke,at the Jaffe Co. on North 10th Street. The Clerk was instructed to write a letter asking that this be stopped. Police Chief Mitrione recommended that Sgt. Walter Stout be made Sgt. of .the Traffic Division.effective immediately. City Engineer Deuker so moved. Seconded by City Controller Wilson. f Police Chief Mitrione announced he planned to attend the convention of the Indiana Police Chiefs at Bloomington on June 19th & 20th, City Lngineer Deuker said he had conferred with the State Hightray Department re- garding the installation of traffic control signs and painting of traffic lanes and was advised work would begin within 10 days. The Committee.working on the "Welcome to Richmond" signs,with Roger Gale as Chairman, reported to the Board and recommended several.designs to the Board. The Committee reported the Richmond Art Club and other groups had been a great help. The Board took the recommended designs under advisement. , There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
