HomeMy Public PortalAboutCouncil on Aging Board -- 2021-08-19 Minutes Minutes of Brewster Council on Aging Advisory Board Meeting August 19 , 2021 Present : Director Denise Rego, Co -chairs Andrea Nevins and Sharon Tennstedt, Lisa Donovan ( COA Programs Coordinator ) , Susan Broderick, Steve Holmes, Jay Greene Absent : Laura Usher, Cindy Bingham (SB Liaison ) , Marilyn Dearborn ( FORE President ) , Penny Holman , Honey Pivirotto Meeting called to order by Sharon Tennstedt at 1 : 00 pm Documents and exhibits : Minutes of July 15, 2021, Directors Report, Meeting Agenda , Action Plan Implementation FY22 , Note on FY22 - 23 Select Board Strategic Plan DIRECTORS' REPORT : See Report Andrea asked about the possibility of getting AARP Grant Money to fund the Bocce Ball Court shade structure and building painting work Denise will work with Jay and investigate the possibilities Andrea also pointed out that the benches along Brewster Road need to be replaced Program Reports : Lisa said an outdoor limited exercise class for 15 people is scheduled for September A segment by the Animal Rescue League will be on Channel 18 In addition , segments on Shifting Gears and Home Care will also be shown Subjects to be filmed in September are Emergency Preparedness, Home Improvement Contractors, Identity Theft Fraud Prevention and On - Line Safety In the planning stage are Men and Retirement, End of Life Financial Planning and Health and Fitness Sea Camp Acquisition is. the main topic for the Board of Selectman and an outdoor Town Meeting is planned for September Liaison Reports : Grants opportunities : Jay Greene stated that he spoke with Phillip Gonzales of Tufts, relative to structural grant money, however their grant money is geared more towards policy . He also mentioned Ann Dumphey who handles grants for equipment on a monthly basis, which might include some of the equipment for health care or other equipment needs of the COA . Denise and Lisa will look into it . Recreation Committee : Steve mentioned that all summer programs are doing will with each program filled . The striping of the Pickle Ball Courts is taking loner than planned . Contractor availability and scheduling has been the problem . The ADA Compliance at Freeman Fields is under way, as the trees have been cutdown and the areas are being prepared by the DPW . FORE : A Lobster Boat Cruise is scheduled for September 211t from 1 — 2 : 30 . The Cape Cod Symphony Christmas Show is being planned . The Thrift Shop is setting all items at 50% off to sell off the summer merchandise . No more summer items are being accepted . Vision Planning : Sharon stated that the meeting forums to be held will be discussed at the next meeting and she will report at our September meeting .
