HomeMy Public PortalAbout2020-09-01 Pat Farrell PROCLAMATION WHEREAS: Patricia “Pat” (Farraher) Farrell has always loved books and being around them, and as a teen she made the former East Branch her second home. Pat began her Library career at the Watertown Free Public Library as a page, shelving books at the age of 14; and WHEREAS: Pat worked 10 hours per week at the Library earning the minimum wage of $1.15; and WHEREAS: Pat began her full-time employment in the Circulation Department at the Main Library after graduating from Watertown High School on April 7, 1964; and WHEREAS: After spending a few years in the Technical Services Department processing new Library material, she returned to the Circulation Department; and WHEREAS: When Pat was married, she brought her family to the West Branch to enjoy story time and continued working part-time, returning to a full-time position when her children were grown; and WHEREAS: Pat has seen many things during her 56 year career, including the attempt to salvage books when the pipes burst, and has remained a constant presence at the Library for the Watertown community; and WHEREAS: As one library user stated, Pat has been “a friendly and familiar face at the front desk and in the community” and that she that she has been “an invaluable wealth of knowledge and experience which benefits both the library and its patrons”; and WHEREAS: A grateful community wishes her well in next career and expects to see her roaming the stacks of the Library. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown extends its congratulations to PAT FARRELL ON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE WATERTOWN FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have Hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the Town of Watertown To be affixed on this 1st day of September 2020 ____________________________ Mark S.
