HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-19-1957 49 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF .PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETYā€˛RICHMOND, .INDIANA FRIDAY, APRIL 19, 1957 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. All members present. The following business was had, to-wit; Minutes dispensed with The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to receive bids on coal and fuel oil for the heating ,season from Sept. 1, 1957 to rune 1, 1958. The bids were ordered filed. The .bollowing bids were received.: Fuel Oil: Wayne County Farm Bureau Warfield Oil Company Coal: Kendall Coal Co. Klehfoth-Voss Co. The bids were taken under advisement. The Board approved a curb cut at 58 South 15th Street. The Clerk read a letter from John Edwards, Secretary, Richmond Retail Merchants Bureau, asking what action the Board had taken after a survey of the traffic on West Main from 2nd to 5th. The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr. Edwards that the survey taken in- dicates the need for the parking ban as now in force. George Barton, Commons Lumber Co. , requested fire protection in the following areas; Parkway Hills 3rd Addition and 'Replat of Harvey Place Sub-Division. This was referred to the r ire Chief for recommendation. Ass't. Police Chief Conyers requested permission to send three policemen to the National Red Cross Aquatic School to be held June 10-20 at LaGrange,Indiana. City Attorney Cecere movedthat three men be sent. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. Capt. Juerling recommended that one parking space be removed on the east side of South III9th, south of "A" by the Pure Oil Service Station. The Beard so ordered. Bill Adler reported that 13 parking meters had ,been installed on Main St. from 3rd to 4th. The Board ordered the following meter installations and changes; Four hour meters on North and South "A" from 10th .to llth to replace present two hour meters. Four meters to allow 2 hour parking for 50 and 4 hour parking for 100. Tow hour meters on Main St. from llth to 12th St. Two hour ,meters on North 9th St, east side, from "A" to "B" St. There being no further business presented, the meeting adjourned.
