HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-05-1957 7 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND,INDLANA FRIDAY, APRIL 5, 1957 The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding, All members present. The following business was had, to wits Minutes dispensed with. The Clerk presented proofs of,publication that this date had been set to received re- montranses on Declaratory Resolution 5_1957 (Closing of North "C".St. from 6th to 7th and alley running south to first east and west alley). No remonstrances having been filed, City Attorney Cecere moved to confirm said Resolution. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. Una_minous. - Mr. Koontz, North 20th St. ,told the Board that trucks were using the street around N,20th and Glen Court as a parking area. He was advised the Board would investigate the existing ordinances and notify him of their action. City Engineer Deuker moved to approve the Plat of the Pine Manor Estates First Addition, Sebnnded by City Attorney Cecere.. (SW 17th -St. ,scuth of SW "E") A petition for fire pro- tection for this area was, referred to the Fire Chief for recommendations. A letter from Mrs. Stanley Hamilton, Executive Director of the YWCA was read. The letter requested two additional parking spaces for YWCA use on North 9th St. City Attorney Cecere said that this was against Board policy to. grant reserved parking spaces for private use - and moved that they not be allowed. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker The Clerk was in- structed to write a letter explaining why additional spaces could not be allowed. Capt;Juerling recommended the traffic light at North 10th & "J" St. be adjusted so as to be in operation from 6:00 M until 9:00 PM, City Attorney Cecere so moved. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker, • The Board received a letter from Ed Nicholson,Developer for Self-Help Builders,reauesting fire protection for-SW 5th St.,south of SW "G" St. This was referred to the k'ire Chief for recommendations. • Mrs. Dickinson, 126 S.10th St. said she couldn't get into her driveway because of parking on both sides of the street. Asset Police Chief Conyers was instructed to investigate this complaint and report his findings to the.Board. The Board ordered the removal of one parking meter adjacent to the reserved area on South . 4th Street by the Court House. Also the numbering of the eight spaces by painting on the top face of the curb. The Board receiued- a petition for a storm sewer on North 24th St. along Hawkins Road. This referred to the Engineer for recommendations. The Board received a petition for a sanitary sewer in South "M" St. from 15th to 16h and in South 15th From "M" south to the end. of the Jarvis Addition. Referred to Engineer. . City Attoryen Cecere moved to tentatively, approve the low bidders for street department material. Seconded -by City Engineer Deuker. . Asset. • Chief4gnyersreported the. inhalators had been installed in the crusier®ambulances and instructions given for their operation. He. was given permission to-purchase an extra cylinder of oxygen for emergency use. The Engineer reported he would have a report on the bridge over Clear Creek on Peacock Road in the near future. The Board approved the Plat of the Parkway Hills Third.Addition. A curb cut at S. 8th & "L" St. on the southeast corner was pproved. 1 President • Attest: 4 ,/( City Clerk
