HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-22-1957 40 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 1957 • The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. All members present. The following business was had, to-wit; Minutes dispensed with. City Engineer "euker moved the contract with the Noon Optimist Club be signed and that the contract be effective until December 31, 1959. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. (Said contract regarding the placing and maintenance of Trash receptacles in City) David Hoff of the Hoff Sheet Metal Works,Inc. showed the board of HOFFCO cahin saw and said he-would take the two old saws used by the Fire Dept. as trade and sell two saws for $70.00. Upon the recommendation of the Fire Chief, City Attorney Cecere moved that this purchase be approved. Seconded by City Controller Wilson. City Controller Wilson moved that the estimate of the MEL & PP of $140.00 for a street light at North 17th and "J" St. be approved and the light ordered in. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere, City Attorney moved that the Koolvent Awning Company be allowed to install a 16' awning on the Masonic Building. Said installation to be over the stair-well on "A" Street. Seconded by City Controller Wilson. City Attorney Cecere moved that three (3) inhalators be purchased for $77.05 each for use in the Police crusier-ambulances. Seconded by City •Engineer Deuker. • Assistant Police Chief Conyers recommended "No Parking" be allowed on the south side of North "F" street from 16th Street west to the alley and that "No Parking" signs be .placed in this location. City Engineer Deuker so moved. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. The Board received a petition for fire protection for the area along South 25th St. north of South "AF° St. This referred to the Fire Chief for his study and recommend dation. - A petition for a sanitary sewer on the South side of National Road East from the end of the present sewer at 34th, east for approximately 400' , was referred to the City Engineer. Said petition stated the property owners would pay for sewer. The Board unaminously approved a curb cut at 307 College Avenue. The following proposals were received for "Welsome to nichmond" signs: "Designers Inc.", 14' x 30' sign, $1250.00, with City to install. "Richmond Sign System", 14' x 422 sign, $1250.00 installed. "Ad-O kite°°, 11' x 20' sign, $887.00 installed. These proposals were taken under advisement. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. 4/2 Press nt Attest: /4r /ram. City lerk
