The Board of Public Works and Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City Controller Wilson presiding. All members present. The following business was had, to.-wit; Minutes dispensed with. The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set receive bids on an automobile for the Police Department. The proofs were ordered filed. Bids received: Kurdys Chevrolet $ 1525.00 Dea Meadows Ford 1350.00 Raper Sales - Plymouth 1415.00 Bids taken under advisement. The Clerk presented proofs of publication that this date had been set to receive bids on Improvement Resolutions 1012-1956 and 1013-1956. Proofs ordered filed, The following bids received on I.R. 1012-1956; Debolt Concrete Co. $ 3350.00 Mike DeLucio & Son 3151.20 Bids taken under advisement. The following bids were received in I.R. 1013-1956; - Debolt Concrete Co. $ 9,996.00 Mike DeLucio & Son 10,401.68 Bids taken under advisement. City Attorney Cecere moved that the bids for the automobile for the Fire Department be awarded to Dea Meadows Ford Sales for $2611.00. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. City Attorney Cecere moved that the bid for the tractor for the Street Dept. be awarded . to the Reid-Holcomb Co. , Inc. of Indianapolis for $10,084.00. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. Paul Mendenhall gave the Board a letter from the School City asking for the vacation of North "C" St. from Ft.Wayne Ave. to 7th St and the alley from North "C" St south to the first east and west alley. Declaratory Resolution 5-1957 was presented. City Attorney Cecere moved it be adopted. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. Citz. Engineer Deuker moved that Improvement Resolution No, 1014-1957 be adopted. Seconded by ity Controller Wilson. (Curb,gutter & sidewalks, both sides of Parry St. from 10th to 12th.) The Board read a letter from the Wayne County Commissioners regarding two hour parking meters in the vicinity of the Court House. City Controller Wilson moved that 2 hours meters be installed on the west side of South 3rd St. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. Fire Chief Williams recommended that the following Probationary Fireman be promoted to Regular Fireman; Marion Williams, effective 2-19-57, and Robert Pottenger, effective 3-8=5', City Attorney Cecere so moved. Seconded by City Controller Wilson, The Fire Chief reported that the old Reliance Foundry was in a very bad condition and should bg boarded up. The City Attorney to contact Attorney for action. Police Chief Nitrione recommended that all traffic be made to stop before turning right on red signals. City Attorney Cecere moved that the present "Turn Right on Rgd" signs be changed to read "Stop. Turn Right on Red". Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. III The Police Chief presented specifications for three motorcycles for the Police Dept. The Clerk was instructed to prepare advertisements for bids. City Attorney Cecere moved that Alberta Moelk, 335 SW 3rd St. , be appointed Probationary Police Matron, effective 3-18-57. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. The following yellow curbs were approved by the Board; On South "o" St - 501 east and west of entrance to new Natco Bldg. On South 8th St. - 501 north & south of "N" St. on the west side of 8th St. The following curb cut was approved; 1241 'South 9th St. There being no further business presented, the meeting adjourned.
