OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFEYT, RICHMOND, INDIANA
FRIDAY, JANUARY 11, 1957
- The Board of Public Works & Safety met in regular session in City Hall with City
Controller Wilson presiding. All members present. ' Minutes dispensed with.
Mr. Randolph Brown appeared before the Board and asked if the traffic light at North
12th and "G" could be made to operate 7 days a week instead of being turned off at
5:00 PM on Friday and not turned on again until Monday AM. The Board unaminously
agreed to have said light go to a flasher signat at 5:OOPM, seven days a week.
IIICity Attorney Cecere moved to install 4501 more or less, of 6" water main and one
(1) hydrant, in 20th street south of Sough "G". Said installation to provide water
- for the Morningside Second Sub-Divison. seconded by City Engineer Deuker.
City Controller Wilson moved to have the Clerk request a map from the Richmond Water
Works showing the location and size of all water mains the City pays rent for. Seconded
by City Attorney Cecere.
City Engineer Deuker moved to award the contract for maintenance of the "Walk_" and
"Dorit Walk" signs to the flD®O_Lite Neon Service Company for $4.2.00 per month. Seconded
by City Controller Wilson.

City Attorney Cecere moved to allow Police Chief Mitrione to attend the F.B.I. Academy i
in Washington, D.C.', for 90 days beginning March 18, 1957. Seconded by City Engineer
Deuker.
City Attorney moved that a street light be installed on 'NW 8th St. between Richmond Ave.
and Peacock at a cost of $260.00. Seconded by City Engineer 1'euker.
Bill Adler, Parking Meter Maintenance, reported that 110 meters had been received for .
installation -around the Court House and that the pests for said meters would be in-
stalled when the weather permits.
Police Chief Mitrione requested the signs in_front of City Hall be changed to read,
"City Business Only" as previously requested.

City Controller Wilson moved to remove one parking meter from in front of the Welfer
. Funeral Home at 15 N. 10th St. and have the curb painted yellow. Seconded by City
Attorney Cecere.
The Board found no objection to members of the Nazarine Church parking on a parcel
of City owned property at North 5th & "A" during the evening or on Sunday, and in-
structed the Clerk to notify the Trustees of said Church. .
City Attorney Cecere moved to allow a curb cut at 213-215 S. 8th St. Seconded by
City Engineer Deuker®
Police Chief Mitrione was ordered to check the spged of trains within the City Limits
and to report his findings to the Board at its next meeting.
City Attorney Cecere moved to have the NFL & PP make a study and investigation of the
lighting of the railroad crossings and to make recommendations to the Board as to what
is needed and the approximate cost of said recommendations' Seconded by City Controller
Vilson.
City Engineer Deuker move to have the M L & PP study and recommend an adequate lighting
program for the follwoing area; from 1st St. to 16th St. , and from North "A" to South
"A" St. Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. The Board felt-that the present lighting in
IIIthis area is antiquated, outmoded and inadequate, and that better facilities are needed
for this day and age.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made and seconded, the
meeting adjourned.
