Clerk presented proofs of publication that December 7th had been set to received bids on 110 or more parking meters. Proofs ordered filed. Two bids received: Duncan Parking Meter Corp.,. Chicago,Ill. %50.75 each The Dual Parking Meter Co.,Canton,Ohio • $53.15 each-single head. $81.55 each - double head. Bids taken under advisement. City Engineer Deuker moved to award the bid of Ribinson Brothers of $11,644.29 be accepted for curb, gutters & sidewalk on South 6th St. from "0" to "Q" St. (I.R. 1008-1956) Second by City Attorney Cecere. City Engineer Deuker moved to confirm Improvement Resolution 1012-1956 (Sewer in North 15th from "G" north to river) Seconded by City Attorney Cecere. City Attorney Cecere moved to confirm Improvement Resolution 1009-1956 (First alley west of SW 4th, from 1st alley south of Natl°. Road to SW "C" St.) Seconded by City Engineer Deuker. The Board agreed to remove one recently installed parking meter on South 7th St. in front of the Old Vortex Service Station to allow better access to the parking lot at said loca- tion. William A.'Suiter and Richard C. Phelps, St. Regis Paper Co. , appeared before the Board and asked permission to use City streets as a testing ground for plastic street markers their company is developing. City Attorney Cecere moved that this be allowed provided. . the State Highway Dept. has no objections, Seconded by City Controller Wilson. It'w s'. suggested that their markers be used on Main .Street at 7th, 8th and 9th. Fire Chief Williams reported on the findings of the Fire Prevention Department in their recent inspections in Richmond. He remarked about the complaints made about the City Hall and suggested that something be done to remove the fire hazards found. The Chief said he would have the wiring taken care of and asked the Board to permit the cleaning up of the attic. The Board unaminously authorized the Chief to hire necessary personnel to remove rubbish and old records from the attic. the Chief reported that the Richmond Home Tele- phone Company should correct their wiring. The Board ordered the Clerk to write a letter to said Company to that effect. The Board took under advisement a recommendation of Chief Williams to limit the number of persons allowed in the ' ouncil Chambers to the number that can be seated. The Clerk reported to the Board that Councilman Thomas had asked about a foot bridge over Clear Creek on Peacock Road. City Engineer Deuker said he and the Street Department were working over plans for such a bridge at the present time. The Clerk also reported to the Board that a complaint had been made at the last Council.- meeting about water standing in South "B" Street between 5th and 6th. £his was referred to the Street Department. City Engineer Decker moved to approve a -curb cut at North 8th & "D" St. Seconded by City Controller Wilson. Therebeing no further business, on motion duly made and seconded, the meeting adjourned.
