OFFICE. OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA,
Friday, October 26, 1956
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular
session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, October 26, 1956, at the
hour of 9:00 A.M. (DST). Mr. Wilson presiding with" the' following members being present:
Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were
dispensed with.
Proof of publication presented for receiving of bids for Improvement Resolution
1007-1956 (First alley west of SW 3rd St. , from SW "D" to SW "E" Street)
Bids received: Robinson Brothers - $4741.35
City Engineer Deuker moved the bid be taken under advisement. Seconded by City
Controller Wilson.
The Clerk presented proposed street light installation at South 16th and "J" Street
at estimated cost of $215.00. City Engineer deuker moved this installation be approved.
Seconded by City Attorney Cecere.
The Clerk presented a petition for a street light at the alley between S. 14th and
15th Street on South "C" Street. Referred to Light Plant for estimate.
Stanley Woodward, 3013 SE Parkway, complained to the Board about the loud music and
noises coming from the Frisch Drive In Restaurant. He said residents of that area had
complained tb Frisch's but had had no satisfaction. Refereed to the Board of Zoning
appeals for action.
A group of citizens from Berry Field appeared. and asked about the story they had read
regarding the annexation of Berry Field. The illayor and the Board explained the plan
to them.
Police Chief Mitrione presented the following recommendations from Capt. Juerling:
At North 12th and "J" Street - paint cross walks on "J" Street at both sides of the
intersection; paint cross walk on 12th, south of the intersection at 12th and "H",
and place a STOP sign on 12th at "J" Street.
Police Chief Mitrione presented the results of a survey showing the number of school
children crossing at NW 5th and National Road. The figures show no additional protect-
ion is needed at the present time.
Police Chief Mitrione reported that a lighted sign had been placed in a yard in the
1400mblock of West Main, City Engineer Deuker to have Building Inspector Sliger
investigate.
City Controller Wilson read a letter from the Richmond Retail Merchants Bureau asking
the assistance of the Fire Department in the installation of Christmas Lights. City
attorney Cecere moved this assistance be given. Seconded by City Engineer Deuker.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made and seconded, the
meeting adjourned.
