OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1956
The Board of Public Works & Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular
session in its office in the City Hall of said City, Friday, October 19, 1956, at
the hour of 9:00 A.M. (DST). Mr. Wilson presiding with the following members being
present: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were
dispensed with.
City Engineer Deuker moved that Improvement Resolution 1013-1956 be adopted. (Improve
property abutting the north side of NW "J" Street between Edna and NW 5th, within
1501 , more or less, east and west of the first alley east of NW 5th Street and
same extended north from NW "J" to Nd "L" streets; abutting NW "K" Street from the
Pennsylvania Railroad to NW 5th Street; abutting NW 4th Street from NW "J" to north
end of street; and abutting NW "L" Street from the Pennsylvania Railroad to NW 5th
Street, by the construction of a sanitary sewer.) Seconded by City Attorney Cecere.
The Clerk presented a petition for a traffic light at North 12th and "J" Streets.
Referred to the Police Department for study and recommendation.
Mr. Mann and Mr. Fritzmeyer, representating the Berry Field Improvement Associat-
ion appeared and said that they felt that the proposed sewer to Berry Field be
installed in conjunction with the improvement of U.S. Highway 27. They were advised
that plans were being studied for the sewer and that the City would take action
in the near future.
Jesse Lewis appeared and complained of the obnixious fumes coming from the Powell
Tire Service Company at North 7th and "A" Street. City Engineer Deuker to investigate.
Ed Ross, Supt. Sanitary District, told the Board he had received complaints from
residents in the Southwest section of town about scavengers following the Sanitary
District trucks and picking up trash cans and garbage cans. He was advised to work
in conjunction with the Police Department and see if the culprets could be caught.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made and seconded, the
meeting adjourned.
