HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-12-1956 12 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, 1956. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office_in the City Hall in said City, Friday, October 12, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock A.M. (CST). Mr. Wilson presiding with the following members be- ing present: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. City Engineer Deuker moved that Improvement Resolution No. 1007-1956 be confirmed (Improve first alley west of S.W. 3rd Street from S.W. "D" to.S.W. "E"). Proof of publication presented for receiving of bids for new truck for the Street Dept. Bids received: Kurdys Chevrolet - 1956 3/4 ton pick up truck - $1588.455 Raper Sales, Inc. -1957 3/4 ton Dodge pickup truck - $1560.73 Dea Meadows - 1956 3/4 ton pick up truck - $1590.00 City Attorney Cecere moved to take bids unden advisement seconded by City controller Wilson. The Clerk presented, a. petition for concrete curb, sidewalk and gutter on north side of Parry Street from South 10th to South llth. This was referred to the Engineering Dept. for study and recommendation. The Clerk presented a petition, for street light at intersection of S. 16th & "J" Street. The Clerk was ordered to secure estimate from Light Plant. City Engineer Deuker moved and City Attorney Cecere seconded that Improvement Resolution No. 1008-1956 be adopted (Improve both ,sides of S.6th Street from S. "0" to S. "Q" with concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk). City Attorney Cecere moved and City Engineer Deuker seconded that Improvement Resolution No. 1009_1956 be adopted. (Improve 1st alley west of S.W. 4th from 1st alley.S. of Nat'l. Road West to S.W. "C" Street). City Engineer Deuker moved and City Attorney Cecere seconded that Improvement Resolution No. 1010-1956 be adopted. (Improve both sides of N. "H" St. from 14th to 16th with concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk). City Engineer Deuker moved and City Attorney Cecere seconded that Improvement Resolution No. 1011-1956 be adopted (Improve both sides of N. 15th St. from "H" to "J" with concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk). City Engineer Deuker moved that a curb cut on 24 S. 2nd be approved seconded, by City Controller Wilson. The Board rejected a request to move street light at S.W. corner of S. 5th & "E" Street.. (Complaint received that light shown in window). The Board took under advisement the following recommended installations made by the Richmond Water Works: New 8" main in S. 20th, from 6" main at S. 20th & "A" to S. "B". 660 feet. New 8" main in S. "A" St. from 20th to 21st. 520' . New 8" main in S. "Q" St. from 4th to 8th, connecting into 6" dead-end mains in S.4th, 5th, 6th, Oaklnd, 7th and 8th. 1550' . City Engineer Deuker recommend the installation of 9" curb and gravel walk along the west side of Bridge Avenue from just north of the covered bridge to N.W. "J" St. seconded by. City Controller Wilson. City Attorney Cecere moved that the Board advertise. for bids on manual parking meters for installation around the Court House, seconded by City Controller Wilson. City Engineer Deuker instructed to get with the Fire Dept. & Sanitary Dept. regarding flushing out of sewers that have been giving off offensive odors.
