FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, 1956
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular
session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, August 10, 1956, at the
hour of 8:00 o'clock A.M. (CST), Mr. Wilson presiding with the' fbllowing members being
present: Mr. Deuker. Mr. Cecere being absent. The following business was had, to-wit:
City Engineer Deuker moved that the minutes be' dispensed with seconded by City Controller
Wilson.
Mr. & Mrs. Dewey Dotson, 421 S. 22nd St., Mr. & Mrs. Keifer Calkins, 2200 S. "E" St.,
and Mr. Ted Opal, 2220 S. "E" St. , appeared before the Board and presented their pro-
blems regarding smoke from trash fires. They were all told by the Board to burn their
trash carefully, to watch the fire, and to have the Sanitary District pick up grass
cuttings, trimmings, etc. that would cause an undue amount of smoke in the neighborhood.
City Engineer Deuker moved and City Controller Wilson seconded a motion to permit
Stanley Gehr to extend a 2" water line north on North 24th Street from "A" Street to •
the Gongwer Addition.
The following curb cuts were approved on motion of City Engineer Deuker and seconded by
City Controller Wilson: 627 S. 16th St., 701 S. 16th St., 709 S. 16th St. , 715 S. 16th
St., 721 S. 16th St. , and 727 S. 16th St.
City Controller Wilson presented the following copy of a letter:

Dear Sir:
We are finding numerous.:violations of excavations within the city limits
on private property where permit signs are not posted. We have brought this to
your attention repeatedly and are again reminding you in writing.
Your cooperation is necessary and appreciated.

City Engineer Deuker moved the plat of the Morningside 1st Addition be approved, se-
conded by City Controller Wilson.
There being no further business presented on motion duly made, seconded and carried,
the meeting adjourned.
