FRIDAY, JULY 27, 1956 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, July 27, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock A.M. (CST). Mr. Wilson presiding with the following members be- ing present: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried© the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. III The City Clerk read a letter from the Executive Secretary of Wayne County Tuberculosis Association requesting permission to park a new mobile chest x-ray on South 8th Street by the Knollenberg Annex the week of August 6th. City Attorney Cecere moved that this be allowed seconded by City Controller Wilson. City Attorney Cecere moved that the Eagles Lodge, as their contribution to the Sesqui- centennial celebration be allowed to hold a square dance on South 7th Street from 9:00 P.M. until 12,100 P.M. on Wednestday. August 8,. 1956, seconded by City Controller Wilson. (Street to be blocked off from Main to South "A" Street). The Board gave unanimous approval for the Psi Iota Xi Sorority to maintain a booth at 8th and Main Street for the purpose of selling tickets for the dance to be held during the Sesquicentennial celebration. Said booth to be used July 27th and 28th. The Board rejected a request by Wayne Mull to park a buggy on Main Street. The Board approved a yellow curb in front of the nursing home at 322 North 10th Street. Said space to be used for loading and unloading patients at the nursing home. Police Chief Mitrione requested that the "STOP" signs being placed by the schools be covered until street markings are painted at the intersections where the signs are located. City Controller Wilson reported that the alley north of N.W. "D" Street from N.W. 9th to N.W. llth was not wide enough for the new trash truck to use in making collections. III He said that there were some old hedge stumps that could be removed to allow the truck to make its rounds. City Engineer Deuker said he would contact the Street Department to see if they couldn't remove these stumps and make the alley fit for use. Bob Tucker, Noon Optimist Club, asked permission to erect the starting ramp used in the Opti-Derby on Saturday instead of Sunday. He explained that the ramp needed painting and time wouldn't allow this to be done if it is erected on Sunday. He was given approval provided the Optimist Club placed lighted barricades around the ramp and pro- vided a guard until 10:30 P.M. Saturday night. Mr. Tucker said that the finish line ramp would be placed along side of the street Saturday and put across the street Sunday morning. This met with the approval of the Board. Bill Adler reported that all 15 minute meters ordered installed had been installed and were all working properly.
