FRIDAY, JULY 20, 1956 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, July 20, 1956, at the hour of 8:00 o'clock A.M. (CST). Mr. Wilson presiding with the following members being pre- sent: Mr. Deuker and Mr. Cecere. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dis- pensed with. Bob King appeared before the Board and said the Sesquicentennial Committee would like to hold the auction scheduled for August 8th at the Corner of 8th and Main, on the same date, but in Kurdy's Used Car lot on South 12th Street and asked if the alley running 111 west from 12th to the 1st north and south alley could be closed for the auction. City Engineer Deuker moved to allow this change seconded by City Controller Wilson. The Clerk presented proofs of publication printed in the Richmond Palladium Item on the dates of July 2 and 9, 1956, that a hearing would held on this date on Improvement Reso- lution No. 1006-1956. The proofs were ordered filed. There being no remonstrances filed or presented City Controller Wilson moved this Reso- lution be donfirmed, seconded by City Engineer Deuker. The Clerk presented a copy of the public liability and property damage insurance carried by the Porter Poster Service. This was ordered filed. Mr. Brown, Secretary of the Eagles, asked the Board to close South 7th Street from "A" Street north to the 1st alley, on Monday, August 9th, for a square dance to be held from 9:00 P.M. to 12:00 P.M. He was told to contact the Sesquicentennial Committee to see if this dance could be made part of the official program. The Clerk read a letter from Russell Alexander regarding the traffic light at South 7th and "E" Street. Capt. Juerling reported that his survey showed that a light is not needed at this corner all hours of the day, but only during certain periods of the day. Capt. Juerling said he would not make a recommendation for a light at this intersection at the present time because the whole south side area is being surveyed regarding the traffic problem. City Engineer Deuker moved to approve a curb cut at 509 South 22nd Street seconded by City Controller Wilson. Bill Adler was instructed to install 2 fifteen minute meters in front of the Water Works Office on North 10th Street.
